Finally, a good week running!! The melt is on in Calgary and I was able to make time to actually get my running in, well mostly. Tuesday, I did a slightly slower than race pace short run, not for a lack of trying but just where my body is at right now. Thursday, despite the warmer weather of late we had a day with just enough thick, heavy snow that there was a preschool snow day so I had to swap my run with a really long indoor boxing style cardio session to balance that out. The weekend long run felt so good, pushed both the distance and pace up from Tuesday and I felt right where I want to be right now. That run was hard to keep pace too as the footing is all over the place right now with ice, hard packed snow, pavement, puddles and really soft snow all mixed in. It’s very reminiscent of how an OCR has constantly changing footing, so really good training that way. My strength sessions kept pushing up the level in that domain as well so I’m very positive with how that week went, hopefully I have more of those to come. With the amount of time I have left until my first race of the year I’m confident in where I’m at right now.
The plan this week is to keep the same progress going, there’s a few more roadblocks in terms of the kid’s school schedule with spring break starting so I’ll have to get creative and work around that.
4 heats of the X Warrior Challenge have sold out and the rest are getting really close so this is “Last Call” for the Stadium Sprint. Run with a team or alone but still get some extra perks, sign up as a team member and enter the team name “The 4-0-300 Army” or if you have already signed up switch from “Individual” to “Team” to take advantage of that.
