Weekly Training Post: Week 8 2018

Being sick sucks for training, I’m pretty sure I picked up a bug last week (probably at the play center with all those snot nosed little kids, just saying) so that severely affected this week. I pushed through on a couple of strength workouts but overall I think I only got 2 maybe 3 done, cold medicine fog made it hard to remember. I did get a run on the weekend which felt great for a couple of reason first I haven’t had a good run in a while, secondly, I felt awful that morning but after forcing myself outside with the kids the vitamin D charged up my tank and it was so great to get out. My pace was a little off where I want to be but considering the lack of running I’ve done lately I’m happy with how I did. Now feeling better it’s time to see how I can push that this week.

The big difference between last year and this year is having a low-level week would frustrate me or I would try a little hard to work through it and make it take longer to shake any bugs. This year having changed my mental focus I realize these weeks are going to happen so to take it in stride, use it to get some extra rest, not burn myself out and come back at when I’m ready and at a tempo I’m ready for so I don’t burn myself out. I’ve felt starting this week that this shift in mindset is already paying off.

Did you know the X Warrior Challenge Stadium Sprint has heats that are already almost sold out? Still on the fence about signing up?  Would you prefer to not run alone? Or do you really like some extra little free things but still get to run alone? Sign up as a team member and enter the team name “The 4-0-300 Army” or if you have already signed up as an individual comment below and I’ll show you how to switch from “Individual” to “Team” it’s ridiculously easy.

Until next week.
